The Army continues to resist funding Block II upgrades to the CH-47F Chinook helicopter, even though there is no alternative waiting in the wings. Chinook is the Army’s only heavy lifter, and it is also the fastest rotorcraft in the Army fleet. It is supposed to remain in the active force through 2060. If the service fails to comply with legislative language requiring that Block II upgrades be funded, that could result in closure of the biggest industrial complex in the lower Delaware Valley. I have written a commentary for Forbes here.
