Blended and Online Learning Symposium<\/a> hosted by the International Association of K-12 Online Learning.<\/p>\nThe LELA Fellowship program was created to expose public school district superintendents to personalized learning and to facilitate the first steps to implementation. An interview process will select 10 fellows from among the finalists, who will participate in a 6-month program that will include work with program mentors (public educators who have already demonstrated success leading personalized learning programs in their own schools) as well as leading experts in various aspects of personalized learning design and implementation).<\/p>\n
The 25 finalists are: Raj Adusumilli (Arlington Public Schools, VA), Darryl Adams (Coachella Valley Unified School District, CA), Phil Auger (North Kingstown School Department, RI), John Carver (Howard-Winneshiek Community Schools, IA), Juan Cabrera (El Paso Independent School District, TX), Wanda Creel (Gainesville City School System, GA), Jason Ellingson (Collins-Maxwell, IA), Dale Ellis (Montgomery County Schools, NC), Jeff Hawkins (Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative, KY), Kim Hendon (Roanoke City Schools, AL), Shon Hocker (Big Horn County SD #1, WY), Eric Hibbs (Marlboro Township Public Schools, NJ), Marvin Howard (Randolph County, GA), Richard Hughes (Central Valley CSD, NY), William Hunter (Polk School District, GA), Dennis Krueger (Howard-Suamico School District, WI), Valya Lee (Liberty County, GA), Kimberly Moritz (Randolph Central School District, NY), Michael Murphy (St. Clair R-XIII, MN), Brad Newkirk (Batavia School District 101, IL), Angelique Nedved (Lawrence Public Schools, KS), Scott Niven (Red Oak ISD, TX), David Pyle (Nuview School District, CA), Sandra Sheldon (Churchill County School District, NV), and Kevin West (Roselle Public Schools, NJ).<\/p>\n
We were thrilled with the high quality of applications and impressive diversity of the pool of applicants for this second cohort. The decisions were not easy ones, and we are grateful to our program partners, the distinguished team from Education Elements, for sharing in this process with us. We all very much look forward to meeting and working with this new group of educators.<\/p>\n
As for myself, I never expected this or any subsequent group to match our first cohort of remarkable district leaders<\/a>, who will be gathering in Washington, DC later this month for the finale of their work with LELA.
