Lexington Institute’s Don Soifer Interviewed on Extension 720 with Milt Rosenberg

February 9, 2010November 21, 2013Don Soifer

Excerpts from Don Soifer’s interview with host Milt Rosenberg’s nightly radio show on Chicago’s WGN Radio – 720 AM. Don is interviewed along with two other guests, Dr. James Quaid, Associate Superintendent of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools, and Illinois Policy Institute Director of Education Policy Collin Hitt.

Soifer discusses a range of education policy subjects in this interview, including:

His research on school safety, and how current proposals for expanding school choice opportunities for Chicago families through charter schools and vouchers would allow children to move to substantially safer learning environments.

The role played by the two major national teacher unions, the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers, and their state and local affiliates, in opposing charter schools, vouchers and other school choice programs, as well as other important education reforms. Soifer discusses several recent positions taken by the current leaders of these unions on a range of issues that demonstrate a commitment to a radical, highly-political agenda at odds with the best educational interests of children and also those of many of the teachers who are dues-paying members.
