Two NASIC Squadrons Assigned To New Space Intelligence Center (From The Dayton Daily News)

Lexington’s Loren Thompson was quoted in a Dayton Daily News article highlighting potential consequences of the new Space Force operation at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base taking up two squadrons of NASIC. “If the Space Force intends to concentrate its intelligence operations at a site other than Wright-Patt, that would have a significant impact on local employment,” said Thompson. “However, Space Force remains part of the Department of the Air Force, and it makes little sense to Balkanize intelligence analysis by splitting closely-related operations between different locations.”

“The military needs an integrated intelligence operation, non a dis-integrated operation,” he added. ““It’s just an organizational change in the near term. Over the longer term, it might mean more.”
