Space Force Zeroing-in On Satellites, Launch Vehicles, Radar, Electro-optical Sensors, Communications, And Cyber Security (From Military & Aerospace Electronics)

A 2018 quote by Lexington COO Loren Thompson in the Washington Post was included in a piece by Military & Aerospace Electronics discussing the purposes and functions of the Space Force. A large section of the article was devoted to potential changes in current defense projects due to the Space Force’s inclusion, plus the new service’s potential methods for contract proposals.

At first, it was thought that the Space Force’s newness would provide an in for smaller contractors. In 2018, Thompson agreed. “Because [the Space Force] will be a smaller service with fewer resources, it may be more dependent on industry for technical advice and policy input,” said Thompson. “[It] would likely be more of a creature of industry than if the Air Force were kept intact.”
