Postal Service Says It Could Buy More EVs If Congress Funded It (From Bloomberg)

Lexington’s Paul Steidler was quoted in a Bloomberg story about the U.S. Postal Service’s plans to replace its aging fleet of delivery trucks. The Postal Service plans to purchase largely gas-powered vehicles, despite widespread calls for it to buy electric vehicles (EVs) instead. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said the Postal Service would purchase more EVs if Congress provided funding for that. The USPS is supposed to be self-funded.

In Steidler’s view, USPS is making “a bald-faced attempt to get the taxpayer to pay for electric vehicles,” he said. He emphasized that “The service could fund more electric vehicles without extra help from taxpayers.”
