For Some In North Dakota, The Mail Does Not Come Through (From The Dickinson Press)

Lexington’s Paul Steidler was quoted in a North Dakota News Cooperative story published by the Dickinson Press and other in-state publications regarding mail delays. These are primarily due to labor shortages and increased package delivery among North Dakota postal workers. Those most impacted live within, or just outside, cities like Bismarck.

It is clear that new delivery standards implemented in October 2021 have slowed first-class mail deliveries, according to Steidler. “Another thing is that the Postal Service is just delivering a lot more packages now than mail,” he stated. Steidler also said that this year he has heard of “weeks upon weeks of delays” from Montana to Vermont to Washington state, as well as in parts of Cleveland, Ohio and around Kansas City, Missouri.
