5 Reasons Why Selling the Embraer A-29 Super Tucano Attack Aircraft to Nigeria is a Good Idea

Boko Haram, the Nigerian Islamist terrorist organization and an ISIS affiliate, must be defeated. Since its founding in 2009, Boko Haram has kidnapped thousands, killed more than 20,000 and created nearly 3 million refugees. In 2015 it won the world’s deadliest terrorist group trophy from the World Terrorism Index. The Nigerian military cannot do it alone. They need U.S. assistance. In particular, the Nigerian Air Force must be allowed to acquire the A-29 Super Tucano. The A-29 is specifically designed for today’s counter-terrorism fights and for employment by partner countries with relatively little money, infrastructure or trained manpower.  I identify five reasons why the same of the Super Tucano to Nigeria must proceed in The National Interest here.
